Activity - Power of Water
1. Fold a small sheet so that it can stand on its own.

2. On the sheet,draw an arrow pointing to the left or right.
3. Pur the empty glass in front of the sheet. The whole arrow should be visible thorough the glass.
4. Observer the arrow thorough the glass and fill it with water. To what direction does the arrow point ?
Scientific explanation
* The direction of the arrow changed because the image you see thorough
the glass filled with water is reversed. Reserved images are created
thanks to refraction a phenomenon where a beam of light bends due to a
difference in the speed of light in the medium through which it
travels.
* You will see another example of refraction if you put a spoon into a glass filled with Water. The spoon will looks as if it had two parts because the refraction of light is different in the air and in the water.
Tip
* If the experiment doesn't work. Place glass with close of further.
Health message: Explain your kids the power of water. Tell them it has the capacity to change even the direction of arrow which no other fluids like coke etc. can do. They will be prompted to drink plenty of water.
